ESPN's Chris Mortensen made his weekly appearance on The Big Show Friday, discussing the NFL playoff picture and the future of the struggling Jets.
With the Jets sitting fourth in the AFC East with a 6-9 record, questions surround the organization and which changes will be made in the offseason. Mortensen said he expects general manager Mike Tannenbaum to be fired, but that the team will likely keep head coach Rex Ryan.
"I think that Tannenbaum will be out," Mortensen said. "I think that Rex will be back. Sanchez I think is a coin-flip. I don't know how you eat $17 million in cap money. You can wait until June, but who wants him in June. And by the way, who else is out there? I can see them keeping Sanchez at $8.5 million, and then do you draft a quarterback or do you sign one to compete? I believe the major change will probably be with Tannenbaum."
As for quarterback Tim Tebow, who was reportedly angry with not being given more of an opportunity with the Jets, Mortensen reiterated that he expects Jacksonville to acquire him in the offseason.
"Oh yeah," Mortensen said of Tebow going to the Jaguars. "Not handed the starting job, but he'll be in Jacksonville next year."
