FOXBORO -- Defensive back Marquice Cole (finger) was the only Patriots player who did not take part in Thursday's practice outdoors in the drizzle on the main Gillette Stadium field.
Tight end Rob Gronkowski was again officially listed as "limited" Thursday as the Patriots broke from form and held a rare practice on the stadium field, something they normally only do on Friday. Part of the reasoning from coach Bill Belichick might have been the last time they played at Gillette. On Dec. 16, the Patriots had four turnovers in the rain against the 49ers and lost, 41-34.
Gronkowski and Belichick said Wednesday that the star tight end 'was not ready yet' to return to full practice and would let the medical staff determine when and if he would be cleared for Sunday's season finale against the Dolphins. He has been "questionable" for both the 49ers and Jaguars but declared inactive for both games. The injury report indicating his likely availability will come out on Friday afternoon.
