The Red Sox will introduce right-handed pitcher Ryan Dempster at a 2:30 p.m. press conference Wednesday. Dempster agreed to a two-year deal worth $26.5 million last week. In order to make room for Dempster on the 40-man roster, the team designated right-hander Pedro Beato for assignment.
Dempster went 12-8 with a 3.38 ERA in 2012, a season he started with the Cubs before being traded to the Rangers. The 35-year-old has a 124-124 record with a 4.33 ERA in 15 major league seasons.
