The NHL announced Monday that is has cancelled games through Dec. 30. The cancellations bring the total number of lost games on the season to 526.
The two sides have not held formal meetings since negotiations broke off on Thursday. The sides had come closer to an agreement, but the league's offer was contingent on the players accepting, among other things, their terms on CBA length and contract lengths. When the NHLPA instead submitted a counterproposal, it was rejected and negotiations ceased.
