The NHL and the players union have agreed to hold a players/owners-only meeting on Tuesday in New York, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly announced Sunday. Absent from the meeting will be league commissioner Gary Bettman and NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr.
Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs, a lightning rod throughout the NHL lockout for the hard line he has taken in labor negotiations, will be one of six owners in attendance. He will be joined by Ron Burkle (Penguins), Mark Chipman (Jets), Murray Edwards (Flames), Larry Tanenbaum (Maple Leafs) and Jeff Vinik (Lightning).
