Bill Belichick and the Patriots celebrated the fact that the team won the AFC East for the 10th time in the last 12 seasons with Sunday’s victory over the Dolphins, but after the victory, the coach was quick to remind folks that there’s still a lot of football left to play.
“We’ve got along way go,” Belichick said. “We’ve still got a quarter of the season left, and that’s a lot of opportunities for us to improve, which we need to do. There’s certainly a lot of things that we can do better than what we did today. Coaching, playing, you know, everything. We’ll just keep working to get better each week.
“We’ve got a real good football team coming in. Getting ready for Houston, we know that’ll be a big challenge. We’ll get back to work here and take them on.”
Despite the fact that the Patriots offense struggled at times against Miami, Belichick and the Patriots will take the victory, especially against a division opponent.
“It’s always good to win. It’s hard to win in this league, so it’s always good to win,” he said. “It’s not about stats, it’s about wins. That’s what we’re here for.”
