Jeff Green and Chris Wilcox came out early for warmups Friday before their game against the Blazers and proclaimed themselves ready to play against the Blazers at TD Garden.
Green sprained his right knee in the third quarter of Wednesday's loss to the Nets at the Garden. Green returned to the game late in the fourth quarter but did not practice on Thursday. He came out two hours before tipoff Friday with a white wrap on the knee and tested it with jump shots. Wilcox came out of Wednesday's game with an illness and also missed practice on Thursday.
After their pre-game warm-up, Green and Wilcox told reporters in the locker room they would be ready to come off the bench for the Celtics.
After practice Thursday, coach Doc Rivers called Jeff Green and Chris Wilcox "uncertain" to play against the Trail Blazers, adding that he thought Green would be able to play but wasn't 100 percent sure.
The Celtics are already shorthanded as Rajon Rondo begins his two-game suspension for his shoving match with Kris Humphries in the second quarter Wednesday night. Kris Joseph was recalled the D-League Maine Claws earlier Friday to fill the open roster spot left with the release of Darko Milicic.
