Victor Rodriguez has been hired as the team's assistant hitting coach, manager John Farrell told WEEI.com on Friday.
Rodriguez had been serving as the team's minor-league hitting coordinator and will now work with recently hired hitting coach Greg Colbrunn. The longest tenured member of the team's baseball operations staff, the 51-year-old Rodriguez is entering his 19th season with the Sox. In addition to serving as minor-league hitting coordinator from 2007-12, Rodriguez has also been the team's Latin field coordinator (2004-06), minor league hitting instructor (2003) and hitting coach at various minor-league levels.
