Andrew Lawrence scored 17 of his 22 points in the second half Sunday as Charleston knocked off Boston College, 71-67, for seventh place in the Charleston (S.C.) Classic.
Patrick Heckmann scored 18 points off the bench for BC (1-3), which played without standout forward Ryan Anderson (ankle injury). Lonnie Jackson netted 14, and Joe Rahon had 13 points and seven rebounds.
Charleston (2-2) trailed by five at the half, 34-29, but opened Period 2 with a 19-8 run. Lawrence started with run with a pair of 3-pointers, and Anthony Thomas (10 points) hit consecutive driving layups to put the Cougars ahead for good.
BC kept it tight down the stretch but could only get as close as two points, the last time with 28 seconds remaining after two free throws from Olivier Hanlan. Lawrence hit 4-of-6 free throws after that to keep his team in front.
The Eagles return home next to play Auburn on Wednesday afternoon (4).
