The Celtics shipped Fab Melo and Kris Joseph to their NBA Development League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws, the team announced prior to their game against the Jazz on Wednesday.
The former Syracuse teammates were drafted by the C's No. 22 and 51 overall, respectively. Melo had yet to participate in an NBA game this season while Joseph played just three minutes in a blowout loss to the Bucks earlier this month, so neither move comes as a surprise.
For the Orange, Melo averaged 7.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.9 blocks as a sophomore. Joseph averaged 13.4 points and 4.7 rebounds in his senior season. The two will join C's camp invitee Micah Downs on the Red Claws roster.
