Patriots running back Danny Woodhead joined Mut & Merloni with Troy Brown Monday to discuss the team's 37-31 win over the Bills Sunday and his two-touchdown performance.
Quarterback Tom Brady had said earlier in the day on Dennis & Callahan that he remembered in 2010 questioning why the Jets released Woodhead, something that many have wondered since the undersized back has found success in New England.
"We saw that week in [Woodhead's first week of practice with the Pats] what he was capable of doing, and we kept saying, 'God, why did the Jets release this guy?'" Brady said. "They had him playing receiver and he was a running back in college."
Woodhead was asked why he felt the Jets released him, to which he replied, "That's just what they needed to do at the time, I guess. I'm very happy that I'm here."
Asked to compare playing with Mark Sanchez to playing with Tom Brady, Woodhead politely declined.
"I was only [with the Jets] for a couple of years. Being here in New England, playing with Tom, you know what Tom is. He's a fairly decent quarterback," Woodhead said with a laugh. "We definitely have faith in Tom."
