FOXBORO -- Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes was penalized for unnecessary roughness in the third quarter of Sunday's 37-31 win over the Bills after a helmet-to-helmet hit to Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was driven to the ground and lost his helmet on the play. Fitzpatrick, who was seen exchanging expletives with Spikes after the play, was asked about Spikes after the game.
"I think the biggest thing is we are not going to back down," Fitzpatrick said. "I think Spikes is an emotional player. I think that he's a punk, at times. [Spikes] took a cheap shot at Scott [Chandler] in the first game [between the two teams this season, a hit that earned Spikes a $21,000 fine and caused Chandler to leave the game with a concussion]. He was doing a lot of jabbering and talking and hitting out there. [Spikes] not one of my favorite players, not high on my list."
