If there's one coach in the NBA who can relate with what former Lakers head coach Mike Brown went through on Friday it's Celtics coach Doc Rivers. After a 1-10 start to the season in Nov. 2003, Rivers was fired by the Magic. Brown beat that inauspcious record Friday when the Lakers gave him his walking papers after a 1-4 start.
"He beat my record, five games into a season," Rivers said before Friday's game with the Sixers. "That's hard to believe. I feel for Mike. Obviously, I think it's awful. I thought mine was awful, too, by the way."
Rivers recovered quickly and was hired by the Celtics before the next season and has been in Boston ever since.
