King on M&M: Pats will be test for Colts

Sports Illustrated's Peter King made his weekly appearance on Mut & Merloni Friday, discussing the surprising Colts and the rest of the NFL. 

The Colts, who finished 2-14 last season, improved to 6-3 on Thursday with their 27-10 victory over the Jaguars in Jacksonville. Rookie Andrew Luck has impressed since being taken first overall in the 2012 draft and last week set the rookie record for passing yards with 433 against the Dolphins. While King is impressed with the Colts, he noted that their recent schedule hasn't exactly been overly difficult. 

"I think if you look at their schedule and you look at the results of their games -- and I am not in any way throwing cold water on them because they're the story of the year right now, the fun story of the year in the NFL, inspirational story of the year -- in essence, what they've done is had a stunning, emotional upset victory over the Green Bay Packers, a coming of age win for Andrew Luck," King said. "They got massacred by the Jets, and in the last four weeks they've beaten four beatable teams: Cleveland, Tennessee, Miami and Jacksonville."

The Colts will play the Patriots in Week 11 in Foxboro, a game that King said will be a real test in determining whether the Colts will be key players in the postseason.  

Said King: "To me, the test of whether the Colts are really going to be more than just a postseason team in year one and might be a postseason challenge, comes in the next three weeks, when they've got … the Patriots and Lions on the road. … Those are two very tough road games.If they can win one of those, then I'll say they're going to be a tough out in January."
