According to multiple industry sources, the Red Sox still are considering four finalists for the position of pitching coach on the staff of new manager John Farrell. The four candidates are former A's, Mets and Brewers pitching coach Rick Peterson; former Nationals and current Marlins pitching coach Randy St. Claire; current White Sox bullpen coach Juan Nieves; and former Marlins and Royals bullpen coach and current Royals special assistant to the GM Steve Foster.
The sources said that the Sox also interviewed Dodgers minor league pitching coordinator Rafael Chaves, but that he is not currently under consideration.
Red Sox GM Ben Cherington said that he expects the Sox will make a decision on the pitching coach this week.
