WALTHAM -- After watching the Wizards bench outscore the Celtics reserves 62-27 Saturday night in Boston's nail-biting 89-86 win in Washington, one of the key Celtics reserves admitted his frustration and said the second unit is doing everything it can to improve.
"We're not even close to where we want to be," said Terry, who scored eight points in 18 minutes off the bench Saturday. "It's a work in progress. I'm going to stay optimistic. I'm going to score. I'm going to figure it out. Believe me when I tell you, I'm going to continue to shoot the ball and I'm going to take advantage of every opportunity."
Terry was just 2-for-8 from the floor on Saturday and is averaging 8.7 points in 25 minutes a game off the Boston bench in the first three games.
"That's frustrating," Terry said of Boston's bench production. "But again, I take that squarely upon my shoulders and this is a new week. I'm looking to get three consecutive games of outscoring [opposing] bench, and we'll see what happens. That's the goal. We try to take it game-by-game but more openly, we'll take it week-by-week.
"Last week was a disappointing one for us but this is another opportunity."
