After agreeding to a two-year, $26 million extension on Friday night with the Red Sox, David Ortiz celebrated with his wife Tiffany by sitting courtside at the Celtics home opener.
He told reporters that he was very excited to be coming back to Boston, a place he's called home since joining the Red Sox in 2003.
"Good, man. You all know I want to be back," Ortiz said. "I've been here for a while. It doesn't get any better."
Sources tell WEEI.com that Ortiz can make up to $4 million in incententives, making the contract potentially worth $30 million over the two years.
Ortiz, who sat next to Kevin Garnett's wife and daughter, attended the Celtics game with no boot or crutches as he aims to fully heal from an Achilles injury that shortened his season to one game in September.
