Patriots receiver Wes Welker, who left Sunday's 45-7 win over the Rams in the fourth quarter due to a left ankle injury, told reporters in London that his foot "just kind of got stuck in the turf" after a 5-yard reception. He limped off the field and did not return to the game.
Asked if he thought the ankle would be OK, he offered a somewhat optimistic assessment.
"I think so," he told reporters. "We’ll see. We’ll evaluate it in the morning. It’s hard to tell right after it happens. We’ll evaluate it as the week goes on."
Welker had six catches for 48 yards on Sunday, and he leads the team in both catches (60) and receiving yards (736) at the halfway point of the season, entering the bye week.
