The Patriots announced Friday that cornerback Ras-I Dowling has been placed on injured reserve with a thigh injury. This is the second time in his two-year career that Dowling has had his season end early. Last season, Dowling started the first two games before being placed on injured reserve with a hip injury Oct. 29.
Dowling, 24, was a second-round pick in the 2011 draft (33rd overall). The 6-foot-1, 198-pounder has played in eight regular-season games with two starts, accumulating 10 total tackles. Dowling played in six games this season, recording seven tackles.
