John Smoltz said Wednesday after his four-inning start in Pawtucket that he feels great physically and is ready for his Red Sox debut next Thursday in D.C. The right-hander added that he will now turn his attention to major-league hitters after six minor league starts.
“It seems like the last three games have been in a way where your mind is getting for something, something changes and you have to get ready for the moment that you’re in," said Smoltz. "I can honestly say when I was out there today I didn’t think I didn’t think one bit about pitching in the big leagues and setting up anybody for those kind of hitters. Now I will.”
