In their final preseason tuneup, Celtics coach Doc Rivers played his regulars significant minutes but the C's were on the losing end of an 88-79 final score.
Jeff Green had another strong outing with 12 points and 9 rebounds. His night was highlighted by a pair of athletic dunks and two blocks on Philly 7-footer Spencer Hawes at the rim. Green started alongside Paul Pierce on the wing with Brandon Bass (10 points, 4 rebounds) and Kevin Garnett up front and Rajon Rondo at the point.
Rondo had 12 points and 10 assists, while Garnett added 8 points and 7 rebounds in 23 minutes. Courtney Lee, Jared Sullinger and rookie Kris Joseph made up the rest of Rivers' rotation until he emptied his bench in the fourth quarter.
The Celtics were without Darko Milicic (wrist), Chris Wilcox (back) and Avery Bradley (shoulder surgery). New addition Leandro Barbosa has not been cleared to play yet as he is resolving visa issues. Rivers also gave Jason Terry and Jason Collins the night off.
There is still more than a week of camp left before the C's open the regular season in Miami on Oct. 30. They will return to practice on Tuesday.
