Jared Sullinger scored 14 points, with most of them coming in the fourth quarter, but the Celtics lost to the Knicks, 98-95 in overtime. Sullinger had a chance to give the C's the lead late in regulation, but he made just one of two free throws with 20 seconds left.

Jeff Green added 12 points and 4 rebounds of the bench in 28 minutes and Paul Pierce also had 12 and four. Rajon Rondo scored 9 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and had 4 assists and no turnovers, while remaining perfect from the free throw line in the preseason. Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 23 points and Tyson Chandler added 16 for the Knicks.
The Celtics are back in action on Monday when the play the 76ers in Philadelphia and then return home for their Garden debut on Tuesday against the Nets.
