According to a team source, the Red Sox plan to start interviews related to their managerial vacancy on Friday, a process the team plans to continue over the weekend and early next week. The source declined to identify the names of any candidates whom the team plans to interview.
The Sox are looking to make their second managerial hiring in as many years after Bobby Valentine was fired following the Sox' 69-93 record this season. A year ago, the Sox didn't conduct their first interview until Oct. 31, one week after Ben Cherington's introduction as general manager (following the departure of Theo Epstein for Chicago).
