According to a report from USA Today, Bruins captain Zdeno Chara will sign with the Prague Lions of the KHL and could play for the team as soon as this weekend.
Agent Matt Keator told USA Today that the proximity to Chara's home in Slovakia and his friends were primary reasons for the move. Chara is the second Bruin to sign with a KHL team for the lockout, as backup goaltender Anton Khudobin signed with Moscow Oblast Atlant. Prospect Alexander Khokhlachev is also in the KHL playing for Moscow Spartak, something he would have done regardless of the lockout.
Players have clauses in their contracts with their new teams that would allow them to return to the NHL following the lockout.
