NEW YORK -- X-rays taken Monday afternoon revealed Dustin Pedroia suffered a break of his left ring finger, the second baseman confirmed to WEEI.com after the Red Sox' 10-2 loss to the Yankees at Yankee Stadium.
There is no particular timeline for the healing process, with the injury being monitored in the coming weeks. Pedroia will not attempt to play in either one of the team's final two games.
Pedroia injured the finger while sliding into second base on a failed stolen base attempt in Baltimore Sunday afternoon. He was out of the Red Sox' lineup Monday."
Pedroia is hitting .288 with a .790 OPS in 139 games this season, having hit 15 home runs and stolen 19 bases.
