NEW YORK -- Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia has told WEEI.com that he will sit out Monday night's game against the Yankees with an injured left ring finger. Pedroia is set to get X-rays later in the day Monday to determine if the finger is broken.
Pedroia suffered the injury sliding into second base on attempted steal in the sixth inning of Sunday's 6-3 loss to the Orioles. He was thrown out on the play by Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters.
In 139 games this season, Pedroia is hitting .288/.344/.446 with 15 homers and 64 runs batted in.
