Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Monday that he still has faith in Stephen Gostkowski, a day after the kicker missed two field goals in the team's 52-28 win over the Bills. Gostkowski, who missed what would have been a game-winning 42-yarder in Week 2 against the Cardinals, missed kicks of 42 and 49 yards Sunday.
"Steve had some real good plays yesterday," Belichick told reporters at Gillette Stadium. "Again, that's an operation that involves more than one guy. It's not a pitcher taking the ball on the mound, or a golfer teeing the ball up, it's a snap, a hold, a kick, the whole process. So we'll keep working hard at it. I have a lot of confidence in those players -- Danny [Aiken], Zoltan [Mesko], Steve."
Only Washington's Billy Cundiff has missed more kicks this season than Gostkowski's three, as Cundiff has missed four of his 10 field goal attempts. San Francisco's David Akers and Miami's Dan Carpenter have also missed three field goals this season.
Belichick did not offer an update on rookie linebacker Dont'a Hightower, who left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury.
