Washington Nationals third-base coach Bo Porter will be the next manager of the Houston Astros, according to a report [1] from Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com. Porter is expected to be introduced at a press conference Thursday morning at Minute Maid Park.
Red Sox bench coach Tim Bogar interviewed for the position, the second time he has done so. Bogar first interviewed for the job as Astros manager prior to the 2010 season, losing out to former Red Sox bench coach Brad Mills, who compiled a 171-274 record over two-plus seasons before being fired in August. Bogar also interviewed for the Blue Jays managerial position after the 2010 season, a job that eventually went to former Sox pitching coach John Farrell.
