FOXBORO -- X-rays on the injured right ankle of Aaron Hernandez were negative, according to a report from the Boston Globe's Shalise Young. Hernandez was injured midway through the first quarter when Julian Edelman, filling in for Wes Welker at the start of the game, was tackled from behind by Arizona's William Gay. The two rolled up on the right ankle of Hernandez.
The report indicated that further assessment of potential injury to the ankle was not immediately available.
Hernandez had to be helped off the field and eventually needed assistance getting down the steps on his way to the Patriots locker room. He was listed as questionable to return.
