Celtics assistant general manager Mike Zarren has withdrawn his name from consideration for the 76ers GM job, a league source told WEEI.com, and will remain with the Celtics. While relatively unknown to the general public, Zarren is an integral part of Danny Ainge's basketball operations staff with wide-ranging duties that include everything from analytics to contracts.
Zarren interviewed for the vacant 76ers GM job along with former GMs Jeff Bower and Tom Penn, as well as Rockets executive Sam Hinkie. Whoever gets the job will work closely with an incumbent veteran coach in Doug Collins.
