PawSox release Prior, make room for Beato

The Pawtucket Red Sox have released pitcher Mark Prior to make room for recently-acquired Pedro Beato, who came over from the Mets as the player to be named later in the Kelly Shoppach trade. Beato has spent most of the season with the Mets' Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo. 

Prior has struggled recently as the one-time Cub phenom allowed five runs in 4 1/3 innings in his last three appearances.
