FOXBORO -- Julian Edelman and Niko Koutouvides were kicked out of practice about an hour early on Thursday when the two engaged in a shoving and shouting match after a punt return.
Edelman ran up and fielded a punt and did a jump-cut into a gap and ran into Koutouvides. The two exchanged words and shoved each other. Coach Bill Belichick stepped in and immediately tossed both from practice.
Two weeks ago, Belichick stopped practice after a pair of fights during practice in which players dog-piled on one another. That was just days after a in-stadium fight during a public practice.
"Coach just wants to make sure we're on the same page," linebacker Rob Ninkovich said of the discipline. "Just don't fight."
