Despite being linked with every free agent shooting guard available, the Celtics still have interest in retaining Ray Allen. In fact, they want to try to do both: Re-sign Allen and add another scoring guard.
With Kevin Garnett back in the fold, the Celtics think think they can stay under the luxury tax "apron," which would give them access to the full mid-level exception: a four-year deal starting at $5 million annually. With Avery Bradley coming off shoulder surgery, the Celtics want to add depth and scoring punch in the backcourt, and Allen is still very much in their plans.
