The Patriots have reached out to the Saints about the possibility of holding joint practices in the days leading up to their preseason game at Gillette Stadium on Aug. 9.
"I got a fax from Bill Belichick this morning and we're taking a look at that," New Orleans interim coach Joe Vitt said at his Wednesday news conference. "I think that should be something that maybe, the next 24 hours or so, we'll decide on that."
If they do decide to hold joint practices, it would be the second time in three years the two teams have gotten together for such an exercise. The Patriots and Saints held joint practices in Foxboro in the days before their preseason game in 2010. It was a positive way for the two teams to break up the monotony of training camp -- Belichick would say the joint practices were among the most productive of his coaching career.
