Aaron Cook makes his debut for the Red Sox on Saturday against the Orioles at Fenway Park. Cook posted a 1.89 ERA in five starts for Triple-A Pawtucket this season, but hasn't appeared in an MLB game since last September 21 and has not pitched at Fenway since June 12, 2007.
Ryan Sweeney was originally slated to hit leadoff for the Sox on Saturday against Jason Hammel (3-1, 1.97), but the lineup was adjusted when Will Middlebrooks was scratched Saturday morning with left hamstring tightness. Sweeney was moved to the sixth spot with Nick Punto replacing Middlebrooks at third base and batting leadoff. David Ortiz will occupy the third spot in the lineup for the first time this season. Ortiz hit third for the Sox in just three games during the 2011 season.
