University of Virginia men's lacrosse player George Huguely has been charged with the murder of women's lacrosse player Yeardley Love, according to reports from Charlottesville, Va. Love, a 22-year-old senior from Cockeysville, Md., was found in her apartment early Monday morning with obvious signs of physical trauma, police statements indicated. Investigators noted that the two had a previous relationship. Huguely, also 22, is a senior from Chevy Chase, Md.
An earlier city news release stated that a student was found by authorities at about 2:15 a.m. after a call about a "possible alcohol overdose." "Officers arrived and found a female University of Virginia student unresponsive in the apartment," the release stated. "Police officers and rescue personnel who were called to the scene attempted to revive the victim but were unsuccessful."
