FOXBORO -- The Patriots selected defensive back Nate Ebner with the 197th pick in the NFL draft on Saturday. The 6-foot, 205-pounder out of Ohio State, who was taken in the sixth round by New England, has a fascinating backstory -- a rugby player, playing on the under-19 and under-20 U.S. national rugby teams, he was the MVP of the Rugby World Cup in 2007 and 2008. He walked on at Ohio State and eventually became a defensive back who made his mark on special teams. For more on the Patriots, check out weei.com/patriots [1].
