CHICAGO -- Daisuke Matsuzaka looked sharp in the second start of his minor league rehab assignmentt, giving up a run on three hits over 4 2/3 innings for Double-A Portland against the Reading Phillies at Hadlock Field in Portland. Matsuzaka threw 74 pitches (44 strikes), while striking out seven and walking two.
Matsuzaka's only other start had been a four-inning outing for Single-A Greenville, in which he allowed three runs on six hits while fanning three and not walking a batter. The 31-year-old is recovering from Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow, which was performed last June.
