Paul Carey scored twice as Boston College routed Minnesota, 6-1, in the Frozen Four semifinals Thursday night in Tampa. The Eagles advance to Saturday night's national championship game against Ferris State, which knocked off Union earlier Thursday, 3-1.
Parker Milner continued his stellar play in goal, making 30 saves in the win.
Steven Whitney opened the scoring for the Eagles (31-10-1), scoring the only goal of the first period. BC scored three times in the second, with Kevin Hayes scoring a power-play goal 6:35 into the period, and Chris Kreider and Carey scoring in the final 2:15, and led 4-0 after 40 minutes.
Minnesota's Jake Hansen ended Milner's nine-period scoreless streak with a goal 1:26 into the third, but Carey answered 22 seconds later and Brian Dumoulin added an insurance goal four minutes after that.
Johnny Gaudreau and Pat Mullane each had two assists for BC, which cruised despite being outshot 31-25.
The top-seeded Eagles are seeking their third national championship in five years, and to get it they'll have to knock off upstart Ferris State (25-11-3) Saturday night at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Aaron Schmit scored two goals in the Bulldogs' victory over Union on Thursday.
