According to a report from TSN's Bob McKenzie, the Bruins and forward Shawn Thornton have agreed to a two-year deal worth $1.1 million a year. Thornton was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
The 34-year-old Thornton has been with the Bruins since the 2007-08 season and has four goals and eight assists for 12 points on the season. He had a career year last season, registering 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points.
Thornton is a two-time Stanley Cup champion, winning with the Ducks in 2006-07 and Bruins last season.
