BOSTON -- Considering he arrived an hour before game time in a suit and wrist brace, it didn't appear Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo would make his return against the Raptors. Doc Rivers confirmed as much just before gametime.
The DNP will be Rondo's eighth consecutive game on the sidelines after he suffered a right wrist injury against these same Raptors on Jan. 18. Various reports have suggested he could return as soon as Friday, although Rondo seemingly changes his status on a nightly basis.
"I don't know if he'll play or not," said Rivers about Rondo's potential for the Knicks game in two days. "We'll just wait until Friday. I think he'll be close. He's getting closer every day."
Fellow guard Keyon Dooling will miss his fourth consecutive game after suffering a hip injury against the Magic last week. He missed the previous seven games before that with a knee injury. Avery Bradley will once again assume the starting point guard duties, with rookie E'Twaun Moore the first backup off the bench.
