Former Red Sox pitcher and Hyde Park native Manny Delcarmen has signed a minor league contract with the Yankees, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported Monday evening.
Delcarmen, who was selected in the second round of the 2000 draft by the Sox, played for Boston from 2005-10 before being traded to the Rockies. He split the 2011 season in the minor leagues between the Mariners and Rangers organizations but did not throw a pitch in the majors.
In his career, Delcarmen has a 3.97 earned run average and 249 strikeouts in 292 2/3 innings.
