According to a team source, the Red Sox are hoping to have their coaching staff in place prior to Christmas.
The Sox have bullpen coach Gary Tuck, third base coach Tim Bogar and hitting coach Dave Magadan returning, leaving the pitching coach, bench coach and first base coach positions empty. There is a possibility the team could move Bogar away from third base and into one of the vacant major league coaching positions.
Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington has confirmed that the organization has interviewed Brad Arnsberg and Neil Allen for the pitching coach position. Allen, who was reportedly the most recent interviewee, has been serving as the Rays' Triple A pitching coach. Cherington said on the SiriusXM MLB Radio Network that the Red Sox have interviewed other candidates beyond the ones which have been made public.
