FOXBORO -- The Patriots have signed wide receiver Dorin Dickerson, 23, to their practice squad, taking the place of Nick McDonald, who was signed off the practice squad last week to start at center. Dickerson also fills the role of Tiquan Underwood, who was promoted two weeks ago and takes the spot of wide receiver Taylor Price, who was released last week to make room for McDonald on the active roster. Price was picked up this week by the Jaguars.
Dickerson is a second-year player who was originally drafted by the Texans in the seventh round (227th overall) out of Pittsburgh in 2010. As a rookie, he played in seven games mainly on special teams. Dickerson, 6-foot-2, 227 pounds, was released by Houston on Sept. 3, 2011 and was then signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad on Sept. 12 before being released on Sept. 15. During his college career, he played at wide receiver, linebacker and tight end.
