FOXBORO -- Following his franchise-record 4.5 sacks in a 37-16 win over the Jets, Patriots defensive end Andre Carter was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday.
In August, Carter signed a one-year deal with a base salary of $1.75 million. He also received a $500,000 signing bonus and the chance to earn another $500,000 in incentives, making the contract worth up to $2.75 million.
So far, the deal has been worth it for the Patriots. He leads the team in sacks with nine, tying him for fourth-best in the NFL. Carter has three games this season with at least two sacks.
