According to a major league source, former Red Sox manager Terry Francona is scheduled to interview for the St. Louis Cardinals' vacant managerial position Tuesday.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Monday that Cardinals GM John Mozeliak was planning on interviewing at least one candidate Tuesday, with the hope of having a manager in place by next week. St. Louis had planned to interview six candidates to replace the retired Tony LaRussa, with Cards special assistant Mike Matheny, Triple A manager Chris Maloney, and White Sox third base coach Joe McEwing all interviewing last week.
Other potential candidates who could garner interviews with Mozeliak are Ryne Sandberg and St. Louis third base coach Jose Oquendo.
