FOXBORO -- The Patriots game in Oakland last Sunday took its injury toll and part of that toll was evident on Wednesday as the Patriots began their on-field preparation for the Jets this Sunday at Gillette.
Jerod Mayo (left knee) and Danny Woodhead (left ankle) were two of the seven Patriots not spotted at the start of practice on the lower grass field outside Gillette. Also missing were Julian Edelman, Aaron Hernandez, Seabastian Vollmer, Albert Haynesworth and Mike Wright. The team worked out in shorts and shells as heavy rain greeted the team at the start of practice.
Mayo reportedly suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee in the first half of Sunday's game and is expected to miss several weeks with the injury. Hernandez has been out since injuring his knee in the Week 2 win over the Chargers while Vollmer has played in just one game, missing the last two weeks with a back injury.
