According to a source, the Red Sox still have not finalized a list of managerial candidates to be interviewed for their opening. Names such as Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin, Rays bench coach Dave Martinez and Indians bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr. have been discussed but have not formally been identified by the Sox as candidates for the job.
ESPN.com initially reported the Red Sox' interest in Mackanin, while Alomar Jr.'s name was first surfaced by CSNNE.com, which also suggested members of Terry Francona's coaching staff, including bench coach DeMarlo Hale, were not likely to receive interviews.
