Here comes Oakland. Here comes a reality check. The Red Sox are about to face the best team in the American League for four games. The A's are good. Good at pitching. Good at hitting. Good at winning.

I like baseball a lot. At 8 p.m. Monday, I liked soccer better. This wasn't intended. When I walked into the Fenway Park press box just before 6 p.m. (or 7 p.m., Natal, Brazil, time) my focus was solely on looking up Tony Gwynn's 1994 batting average and learning what was on the media dining room menu.

It's time. The Red Sox should make their move on Stephen Drew (whatever that move might be). It might not work out, but it will be worth a try. At this point, they need to try something.
