CHICAGO -- The Bruins dressing room here inside United Center after Saturday’s 3-1 Game 5 loss to the Blackhawks resembled more of a triage unit dealing with shocked patients than it did a hockey team facing long odds of pulling off a second mini-miracle in two years.
Mike Petraglia
06/20/2013 - 2:04am
You didn’t think it was going to be that easy, did you? You didn’t think the Bruins could hold Chicago down the way they did Pittsburgh, did you? You didn’t think with Marian Hossa back in the lineup for the Presidents' Trophy winners, the Bruins would walk over the opposition in Game 4, did you?
Mike Petraglia
06/18/2013 - 1:01am
It’s time to recognize Patrice Bergeron for what he is: the best all-around player in hockey. That’s right. Not just the Bruins, hockey.
Mike Petraglia
06/16/2013 - 7:08pm
Claude Julien has instilled many championship characteristics in his team. They are fundamentally sound on defense. They stand up for each other and call each other out in the sanctity of the dressing room and never outside. They take care of themselves, on and off the ice.
Mike Petraglia
06/12/2013 - 11:19am
FOXBORO -- I came, I saw, I survived. And I think I believe Tim Tebow is actually now a formal member of the New England Patriots.
Mike Petraglia
06/06/2013 - 6:35pm
About 90 minutes before Wednesday’s Game 3 at TD Garden, before fans were in the building and with very few eyes on him, Jaromir Jagr went for spin on the ice in front of the Bruins bench. The skate lasted less than 30 seconds.
Mike Petraglia
06/04/2013 - 6:30am
The only thing that can stop the Bruins now is overconfidence. They haven’t just beaten the Penguins in two games in Pittsburgh. They have dismantled their manhood for everyone in the hockey world to see.
Mike Petraglia
05/31/2013 - 4:36pm
WILMINGTON -- I can’t wait for this series to begin. I can’t wait to see how the Bruins have handled their week of rest and preparation.
Mike Petraglia
05/29/2013 - 10:01pm
The Bruins have the right goalie for the biggest challenge they’ve faced since the 2011 Stanley Cup finals.
Mike Petraglia
05/25/2013 - 10:54pm
Thank goodness for Torey Krug. That’s what every Bruins fan is thinking and saying right now after the Bruins took care of business and eliminated the Rangers with a 3-1 win in Game 5 Saturday evening at TD Garden.
Mike Petraglia
05/24/2013 - 1:43am
NEW YORK -- The joke is on the Bruins, at least for one night.
Mike Petraglia
05/21/2013 - 11:18pm
The Bruins will end this series on Thursday night. There will be no dramatic comeback by the Rangers. There will be no repeat of 2010 against the Flyers. There will be no repeat of Toronto from the last round.
Mike Petraglia
05/19/2013 - 8:05pm
This is how good the Bruins can be. After completely dominating the Rangers and undressing King Henrik five times, the Bruins walked out of TD Garden with a 5-2 win Sunday and a 2-0 series lead. They were the better team in every aspect.
Mike Petraglia
05/17/2013 - 9:13am
We’ve been down this road so many times in the last 14 years, it almost seems passé. Boston-New York.
Mike Petraglia
05/14/2013 - 12:39am
Just like his team, Claude Julien has a new lease on life. It took the most miraculous comeback in Game 7 Stanley Cup playoff history, but Julien lives to coach another playoff series with the Bruins.
Mike Petraglia
05/12/2013 - 11:32pm
If Game 7 is the best thing in sports, Game 6 is Boston’s worst nightmare.
Mike Petraglia
05/10/2013 - 1:41pm
Funny how perception can change come playoff time with the Bruins. Two weeks before the playoffs, the perception was that Boston was limping toward the finish line. The perception was that the Bruins had no identity and their top two wingers on their top line weren’t producing. Their top-line center was underperforming.
Mike Petraglia
05/09/2013 - 12:09am
Now we can really say the playoffs have begun for the Boston Bruins. And David Krejci made sure it got off on the right foot.
Mike Petraglia
05/07/2013 - 12:18am
Championship teams are defined by how they handle adversity. In their Stanley Cup title run two years ago, the Bruins were down 0-2 in the first and last series they played but still managed to win each in seven heart-stopping games. They had to win three Game 7s, including the Cup-clincher in Vancouver.
Mike Petraglia
05/04/2013 - 7:10am
Is this really how it ends for Paul Pierce in a Celtics uniform?
Mike Petraglia
05/02/2013 - 3:52am
NEW YORK -- It’s the question everyone in New York was asking after Game 5 at Madison Square Garden. Are the Knicks scared? It’s a very fair question to ask. Are the Knicks worried about joining their baseball brethren in the Bronx from 2004?
Mike Petraglia
04/30/2013 - 8:01pm
Talk about whistling by a graveyard.
Mike Petraglia
04/27/2013 - 9:53am
It's always hard to watch a champ grow old. It's even harder when that champ knows its beaten and its spirit is broken. That's exactly what's happened to these short-handed Celtics.
Mike Petraglia
04/26/2013 - 10:46am
After watching the worst two playoff halves of offensive basketball in the long, illustrious history of the NBA’s proudest franchise, what else is there left for Doc Rivers to do?
